  PROS: great tasting food and well prepared, good atmosphere, like the BYOB concept. CONS: no lobster dishes, clams have very little meat, a bit expensive for somewhat smaller portions, high "up-charges" for certain items ($4 for Caesar salad as an example). OVERALL: I would recommend this place if you are looking for something unique and perhaps, special occasions. I will definitely eat here again, but it is not an everyday type of place. RECOMMENDATION: Scallops (perfectly cooked and tasty)

  Pelican used to be my ALL TIME favorite restaurant! We came for New Year’s Eve, we came for Family and birthday celebrations, Christmas celebrations, etc. etc. etc. It was our “go to” place... I think I am safe to say, for at least 10 years! I guess if you have not been going there for long as long as I have, you would say that you like the food. But if you knew what it used to be like… The quality does not compare. I have pictures in my photo albums of what the food used to look like and what it looks like now. The risotto is soupy and all over the place… Lacking flavor as well. The scallops do not have that wonderful glaze on them anymore. And they are very salty. Actually all of the food is very salty. One time recently, I got the Fluke Franchaise (One of my favorites) and it had so much lemon on it. It was so overly tart, burning my mouth. It’s really a shame. But I guess everybody has to cut corners at some point. It seems that certain restaurants that have been around for a very long time eventually start taking their popularity for granted and begin lacking in quality. It saddens me to say that this is what is happening here at Pelican.

  First and last time there. Went by the reviews which seemed really good. Very disappointed. Not the classy place we were expecting. Not a big menu at all, not much seafood on there. Looked like only what the chief wants to cook is on there. We were there for over an hour, the last 15 minutes is when our food finally arrived. The portions were small, very small. It took forever to get a refill on drinks, the waitress walked by my empty glass several times and even delivered food to the table without asking or checking. I couldn't wait any longer so i had to ask a waiter walking by for a refill. The salad portion was extremely small and mostly carrots. The lettuce was soggy and not crunchy at all but the dressing was ok. $10 for a shrimp appetizer that was 3 regular sized shrimp on a the edge of a glass, yes just 3 regular sized shrimp and 12 mussels for $11? Way over priced. The London broil was dry and the sauce on it tasted old or chemically and not good at all which was also on the potatoes so those weren't good at all. The fresh spinach was good. The worst part was when asked how was everything we said ok, that must be a trigger word there, the waitress started a borage of questions about the food. At this point we were just trying to avoid a possible confrontation, but in all honesty the original plan was to go to a steakhouse but the reviews and seafood were a plan changer. Never again. Total bill $90 before tip to leave hungry and unsatisfied. Sorry pelican, the food sucked and wasn't worth half of the $90 or the extremely long wait. I would suggest changing your priced or be way more generous with portions or you won't last much longer.

  Went in for lunch. I was very surprised at how underwhelming this place was. I suspect dinner is a bit better but I can’t imagine it going beyond 4 stars. Coffee was actually a decent tasting cup. Chicken sandwich was cooked well and had good flavor but the roll it was served on was like a dinner roll or something odd. The fries were crinkle cut. Felt like an upscale pizza place sandwich. The price was certainly reasonable though. I’d say it’s a safe bet for a decent meal. The dinner prices are a lot higher than the lunch items and because of that I’d be hesitant.

  Really good, fresh seafood. Service was very good.
